If you have travelled on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle line through Horton-In-Ribblesdale station in the last few months, you might have noticed work being carried out on the southbound (Leeds) platform station building.
Settle and Carlisle Railway Properties Ltd have been working hard, so that in addition to the station waiting room and a new holiday let, there will be a Cafe Bar. This will serve hot and cold drinks, snacks and warm food along with a cheeky draught beer if that takes your fancy. The Cafe Bar will be a great place to break your journey, start and end a scenic walk or just meet up with friends old and new.
The Cafe Bar will be run by our very own volunteers and in order for it to open as much as possible we are looking to bolster our numbers. Could you join us and volunteer to help make the Cafe Bar a success? Do you enjoy meeting people? Could you spare some time to work with one of the most breathtaking views in the Dales as a backdrop?
The Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line are “independent champions” of one of the finest railway journeys in the World which happens to run through the Yorkshire Dales. The Leeds Settle Carlisle railway is the most sustainable way of accessing the Dales; opening in Spring 2024, the new Cafe Bar will only enhance that experience, and ensures one of our heritage station buildings continues to serve its community
Maybe your New Year resolutions have so far fallen a bit flat, or you would just like to try something new? Either way, please do get in touch with Phil at HCB@settle-carlisle.com and see if we have the right opportunity waiting for you! You’ll be joining a great team, and of course helping to support this famous railway line.
