Support Groups

Amnesty International letter writing group. No longer meeting in person but continue their work online. Letter-writing changes lives. A letter or e-mail from you could help free a prisoner, stop an execution or help a bereaved family get justice. Enquiries (01729) 268912.

Age UK North Craven: Trips for the over 60s. For destinations and prices etc. contact Sandra on (01729) 823066.

Time Together Tuesday Dementia Cafe: for people living with Dementia and their Carers. Every Tuesday afternoon 1.30-3.30pm at St John’s Methodist Church. Join us for a cuppa, homemade cake, information and chat.

Coffee Pot: Held every Wednesday at St John’s Methodist Church from 10.30-12 noon. Scones, cakes and hot drinks available. 

Settle Community Library: Stay and Play Fridays, 11 am (term time only); Knit and Natter first and third Thursday, 10.30am; Lego Club, Fridays from 3.30pm (term time only); Breathe Easy Asthma and Lung UK Peer Support Group second Wednesday 2pm (Meetings start again in March). Men’s Groups

Men’s Forum: Every second and fourth Monday in the month, apart from holiday periods. Friends Meeting House in Settle, 2pm to 4pm. Members with very varied interests living in the Settle area give or organise a talk about once a year on a very wide range of subjects. Good companionship and mental stimulation on offer. Women’s Groups

Austwick WI meet in Austwick Parish Hall, at 7pm every second Thursday. New members and visitors are welcome. Upcoming talks include a Fabric Printing Workshop with artist Hester Cox, Music to Your Ears with Dr Paul Whittaker OBE, and Life in Service in the 21st century with Rowena Lee.

Community Fridge at the Little Hub: The Community Fridge is currently open Mondays and Thursdays 2.30-4.15pm and Wednesday mornings 10am-12noon at the Little Hub in Commercial Courtyard next to Craven Homelet.  

Public Living Room at Settle Quakers: Open to anyone who wants to come along at Settle Quakers small meeting room on Mondays and Thursdays every week from 10.30am to 1.30pm. We offer hot drinks and meals (but please come before 1pm if you want feeding), card games, Connect 4, jigsaws, craft activities, help with cooking, or just a chat and some company. 

Ink recycling: We are still collecting any sort of ink cartridge, big or small, used or unused, for recycling. We can send them off and get a little bit of money back for them.  

Knit (or Sew) and Natter every Wednesday: This group meets at the Settle Hub office in Commercial Courtyard every Wednesday 10am-12 noon. 

Evening Temperance Bars at Settle Quakers: Offering an early evening social venue people where people of all ages (and well-behaved dogs) can come and socialise without the presence of alcohol. Saturdays 13th and 27th April, Saturdays 11th and 25th May, 4-8pm Quaker Meeting House in the small meeting room. All these will be alcohol free events, offering simple food like soup, pizza or a curry, snacks, cake and hot drinks and cordials. If you want to bring your own board games that is fine too.

Wellbeing Cafe and Safe Space: Every Tuesday anytime between 2-4pm at Settle Victoria Hall. Anyone welcome, no need to book. Creative Art, Puzzles, brew and a chat.
