As Easter approaches, there are dark clouds of conflict and economic uncertainty all over the news, but living in the Yorkshire Dales, sometimes just a glance out of the window as the days get longer and the sun shines brighter can lift the mood. As I write, I can see sheep munching grass in the fields, oblivious to the gloomy headlines that form our own daily diet. Life goes on all around us.
On our cover we have a view of Giggleswick by Settle-based landscape and still-life artist Luke Thompson. He is running a two-day painting workshop in Skipton on 18th-19th April. Check www.lukethompsonart.com for details.
We are always keen to hear what’s happening across our community, so if you have a news story, event or update to share, please do get in touch. We are also looking for volunteers to help cover local sport, particularly our cricket and football clubs.
We are delighted to welcome some new advertisers this issue. Look out for them inside and support them if you can. If you are interested in advertising your own business, click here.
However you plan to spend Easter, I hope you have an enjoyable and uplifting time. Buy your chocolate eggs locally if possible! Click here for details of church events and services around the district.
