A new year is a time when many of us make resolutions to change the way we live. Getting fitter, especially after a festive season that traditionally involves quite a lot of eating and drinking, is a popular commitment to make. Gym memberships soar when we’re full of good intentions but sustaining the enthusiasm long term is the hard part.
That may be a little easier now that Settle Swimming Pool has its own gym facilities available right here on our doorstep. You can read about the positive experience of one gym ‘newbie’ inside Issue 185, which may encourage you to give it a go, if you’re struggling for motivation.
I got a new start of my own at the end of last year, moving house in December, just down the A65 from Settle to Long Preston. It may only have been a relatively short hop, but the amount of work in packing and unpacking boxes was still exhausting, not to mention the stress of the various legal and financial commitments involved. You don’t realise how much stuff you accumulate in a lifetime until you move it all somewhere else. I may not have made any resolutions to get fitter in 2025, but I really do need to make one to clear out a bit of clutter!
Meanwhile, Community News held its Annual General Meeting on 27th Nov 2024. The editorial and production team were supported to continue for another year. You can read a report on the AGM here.
