Conservation group to hear of nature’s calendar

Nature’s Calendar: Phenology in the UK, that is the title of the next Craven Conservation Group talk, which will be held on Thursday 6th November at St John’s Methodist Church is Church Street, Settle starting at 7.30pm.

The speaker will be Judith Garforth of the Woodland Trust, who will talk on the Woodland Trust “Nature’s Calendar” project.

Phenology, as in the title of the talk is the study of periodic events in biological life cycles, for example the time of budburst
Topics to be covered include:

  • What is Nature’s Calendar?
  • A brief history of phenology recording in the UK (this goes back as far as 1736)
  • How the seasons are changing
  • Research outputs from the project
  • How to get involved
